About ChitBook
ChitBook is a digital ledger and tracking software designed specifically for group savings (chits) among friends, family, and colleagues in India.
Why we built this
For generations, chit funds have been a cornerstone of community savings in India. They allow groups of trusted individuals to pool money and access bulk sums when needed. However, the management of these groups has remained largely stuck in the past.
Organizers rely on physical notebooks, scattered WhatsApp messages, and complex Excel sheets to track who has paid, who won the auction, and what the next month's dividend will be. This manual process is prone to errors, misunderstandings, and a lack of transparency for the members.
We built ChitBook to solve this exact problem. By providing a clean, easy-to-use digital interface, we aim to bring transparency and efficiency to group savings without disrupting the trust that makes them work.
The Story
ChitBook started as a solo project born out of personal frustration. Watching family members struggle to reconcile their monthly chit fund records, it became clear that there was a massive gap in the market for a simple, specialized tool.
Most financial apps are overly complex or try to act as the middleman holding your money. ChitBook takes a different approach: we don't touch your money. We just provide the calculator and the ledger, empowering the organizer to run the group smoothly.
